A few quick questions: What were you using for your primary light (coming from upper right)? And, was it in any way diffused? And, how close was the source to the little boy?
Overall the lighting was looking good, but, to me, it seemed a tad harsh....
(if it was a speedlight, I wonder about using a white sheet between the speedlight and the child to help diffuse/soften the light)
This shoot was a last minute thing where I didn't have my soft boxs with me. I was on a trip and just pulled out what I could and did all this within 10 minutes. All I had with me was: 2 speedlights, a reflector, 70-200mm 2.8, and 40D. (no soft box, light stands, or such) I used the shoot through trans part of the reflector to try to do the same as I would with a softbox. (had a person holding the flash and reflector, and another one holding the other flash as the rim light.
So yes, the light is a tad more harsh then I would have it if I had more time, or was in my own studio.
Do you have a site where I can see some of your work?
